At 00:30 the sprinklers sprinkled us awake, well at least Robin and I. Robin was sleeping on his tarp without his tent because it was a nice night out, I was in my tent with the rain-fly on but a sprinkler head right next to my tent. I got up to make sure that all my gear was covered and not getting soaked. Robin was up because well he was getting soaked :) Robin found the water shut off and turned off the water to the sprinklers so we could go back to sleep, me dry, him not so much.
Getting up at 06:00 was not as much fun as it had been previously, not like it is ever really fun but after an adrenaline rush in the middle of the night the wake up is harder. We were also freezing, it was cold here, colder than expected again. Plus everything was still wet so we went to the cafe to get breakfast in hopes of letting things dry out a little more before we had to pack up and leave.
Breakfast was good, coffee was hot and plentiful and the locals were really friendly. We ate and warmed up then headed back and packed up. On today's map there was another alternate, eff that! We all made a unwritten pact not to do anymore "alternates". Hitting the road we rode on to Stevensville to get lunch and hookup with the sweet 16 mile bike path to Lolo.
The lunch stop provided us with free internet and great food, a awesome combo! Spending more time than we should have we finally headed out to get to Missoula. Riding the bike path was a fantastic change from the shoulder-less tight highways from the morning, as an added bonus they were chip sealing the highway so without the path we would have had a very dangerous and dirty ride. Riding the path all the way to Lolo we stopped at the gas station to get some cold drinks and plan out the next 13 miles into Missoula.
After a quick snack and cold drinks we headed off to get to Missoula before the ACA headquarters closed so we could get our free ice cream and picture taken! About 5 miles out of town we passed a young woman who had gotten a flat tire, so being the nice guys that we are we stopped and helped her out. She didn't have a pump, patch kit or tools. Good thing I packed that damn patch kit and tire pump 3300 miles across the country! After getting her all fixed up we headed into town and found the ACA. We went in and got our free ice cream and picture taken.
After the ACA stop we headed over to the hostel and got our beds and hung out and ran some errands (nice to be in a big city!).
